About Us
Set in the heart of rural, leafy Hampshire are the Berrydesign workshops and showrooms; two converted barns,in the garden of the Berry family home. Founded in 1999 by furniture designer and craftsman Chris Berry, Berrydesign was born out of a passion for fine furniture design and functional living.
In our modern disposable society, Chris identified a need in the market for solid innovative and modern handmade design combining unique engineering techniques with traditional craftsmanship to provide quality flexible solutions for entertaining and family spaces which will last you a lifetime.
From his first dining table created at the age of 14 from oak floorboards in his Grandfather’s attic, Chris has seen the beauty and durability of solid wood. Through over 30 years of designing fine furniture, Chris’ appreciation for pure wood remains unwavering and is evident throughout his Berrydesign collection. Every piece has arisen from months of sketches, prototypes and revisions to create furniture which exceeds its functional requirements to become a much loved feature to be treasured. Chris’ designs are ongoing processes which he is ever developing into new products, allowing his creativity to evolve one piece into the next.
Exceeding expectations is critical to Chris and his wife Clare, and continues throughout the buying process. Both have an eye for detail and Clare’s background as a food technologist for a leading national retailer means she has very exacting standards. Delivering new products to market to meet a need and offering unrivalled quality has proven a vital skill set in the development of Berrydesign.
Every customer is welcome to have a personal consultation with Chris and Clare at their showroom which is decorated with flowers and herbs from Clare’s garden. Whilst visiting you may even bump into one of their two daughters, three dogs or chickens. Customer service is unrivalled enabling you to have daily contact with either Clare or Chris throughout the furniture making process, furniture handmade to your exact requirements, and finally personally installed in your home by their own skilled craftsmen at a time and day of your choice.
