Find out more about Dining Table Mechanisms
We have four main mechanisms that we use on our individual table designs that you may specify when choosing your design and make it truly bespoke.
Central butterfly extension mechanism: this can be used on central pedestal, rectangular or square tables where the underframe is fixed. The table has a central table joint and the woodgrain runs across the table top, allowing the grains to match the joint line. The table is unclipped and opens to reveal either one or two butterfly flaps, which are individually opened to the table extension that you require. Tables with up to five flaps can be made in this way, although flaps need to be stored away from the table in this case.
Moving legs extension mechanism: a carefully developed precision system where the table when closed shows no visible joints in the table top. When opened the table underframe slides out from underneath the table top to reveal either one, two or three flaps, which swing open with single handed operation, before being locked into position. Wheels are fitted within the legs on certain designs to make the action as effortless as possible and with the legs extending with the flaps your guests will have the best use of space available. A table made with a single flap extends by 55cm, two flaps 110cm and three flaps 150cm.
Party extension mechanism: an exciting mechanism that has legs that remain in a fixed position but a table top that slides along to reveal a massive 120cm flap. When this is revealed you slide the flap out effortlessly on its runners and then open it to add space for a further four people in 30 seconds. These mechanisms are very functional and well-priced too.
Pull-out extension rods: our first system that is simple, strong and safe when the table legs remain in a fixed position and you pull out from either end carefully crafted aluminium pull out rods, with decorative wooden end caps. When extended you rest the flaps on top of the pull out rods, which ensures good legroom height and then secure these with two metal thumb screws, these screw into carefully positioned metal bushes on the underside of the table top. A storage drawer can be made in tables greater than 180cm long for the table flaps to be stored in if required.
