Products in Our Wood Care Kits:
Scotchbrite pad: a very mild abrasive pad that should be used with a backing pad (such as a paperback book!) and will refurnish your table top surface, removing minor marks and scratches, and restoring a gentle glow to your furniture’s surface. We suggest using this a couple of times a week on a solid wood kitchen table, to keep the surface clean and smooth, which helps prevent spills and sticky things from becoming established.
Also use your pad the following morning after re-polishing to prevent the polishing from becoming brighter, and to remove any small streaks which may occur when polishing.
320 grit Flour paper: a slightly stronger abrasive which is used mostly to prepare the table surface before re-polishing, but can also be used for patch repairs. To use the paper correctly simply wrap around a cork sanding block, (or paperback book) and work it with the grain; up and down the table top or cabinet top, so that a fine even layer of dust is created across the surface. If you see a mark that is not being removed by this very fine abrasive paper, then used our stronger abrasive foam pad to take the mark out and then revert to the flour paper, working the repair gently into the surrounding area.
Foam sanding pad: intended for those more stubborn stains that cannot be removed by the fine flour paper. Use the foam sanding pad to work with the wood grain, using gentle pressure with your four fingers on top of the pad to sand out deeper marks. Once removed revert back to the flour paper for final sanding.
Polish: Having sanded your table top with the fine flour paper, remove dust with a cotton cloth so that it clear of dust before applying the polish.
Harris Paint Pad:a simple tool to rapidly spread out the polish in circular motions across the table top, before then straightening out the polish by working up and down the table top with the grain.
